Black & Lizars funds equipment for Glasgow Children’s Hospital
The opticians said that it made the donation in order to support the hospital in helping children across Scotland
06 June 2017
Scottish optical group Black & Lizars has donated funds to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to support it in purchasing a state-of-the-art neurosurgical endoscope.
Once purchased, the endoscope will be used in surgery on children with life-threatening conditions, including brain tumours and cysts.
The hospital will be the first of its kind in Scotland to purchase the instrument and will be one of just a few children’s hospitals in Europe to have the device.
Commenting on the donation, managing director of Black & Lizars, Michelle Le Prevost, said: “Our staff and patients are very proud to support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to secure the very best technology to deliver care to children who most need it. The hospital already does fantastic work and this new equipment will help improve the lives of children all over Scotland who suffer complex conditions.”
