Independent optometrist wins scholarship place
BBR Optometry’s Laura Reece has been accepted on Alcon’s two-year scholarship programme
Optometrist Laura Reece has won one of just 20 places on Alcon’s annual scholarship programme.
Ms Reece, who qualified from the University of Manchester in 2014 and works at independent practice BBR Optometry, will enrol on the two-year programme, which begins in September.
The programme will cover clinical knowledge, personal improvement and research into different aspects of optometry, as well as leadership and business skills. The contact lens manufacturer says that the programme will help students become “best-in-class optometrists by increasing their clinical knowledge and widening their skill set.”
Ms Reece is the second member of BBR Optometry staff to enrol on the scholarship, with fellow optometrist Laura Nixon currently completing the final year of the programme.
BBR Optometry practice owner, Nick Rumney, said: “BBR is exceptionally proud of the amount of on going training our staff want to undertake in order to ensure our patients constantly benefit from the best eye care possible and we wish Laura every success in her studies.”
