Sense Medical, the official distributor of Canon Medical Eyecare in the UK and Ireland, has launched a UK roadshow to showcase the Xephilio OCT-R1 from Canon.

The company has fitted out a van with the Xephilio OCT-R1 and will be visiting diabetic eye screening programmes across the UK.

NHS screening staff will have the opportunity to experience the combination of the SD-OCT and HD 32 mega pixel Colour Fundus Camera.

Abdul Jahangir, sales director at Sense Medical, commented: “We know how busy diabetic eye screening staff are so we wanted to bring this new combination device to them. The Sense Medical Roadshow van will be fitted out with the Xephilio OCT-R1, allowing the staff to demo the product themselves during a time convenient to them.”

The company explained that the combination of OCT and high definition retinal camera makes the device an “ideal solution” for eye screening programmes with high volumes of patients.

The OCT-R1 offers a scan of up to 14.7 x 13.4 mm, with a 32.5MP resolution and specific algorithm processes in the 32 mega pixel EOS for ophthalmic imaging.

The device has a small footprint and is transportable.

The Xephilio OCT-R1 features a fully automated examination protocol to streamline the imaging process and support accuracy and consistency in imaging data obtained from both eyes. An audio guidance feature makes the device easy to use for patients and operators, Sense Medical shared.

The roadshow has already visited West Sussex, Sheffield, and the Midlands, with further stops planned in Humberside, Sunderland, Nottingham, and a number of sites in London.

Spaces are limited, however, practices close to the roadshow’s stops are invited to contact Sense Medical to arrange a visit by email or phone at 01276 479068.
