Heidelberg Engineering has appointed Zak Tomlinson as a new member of its Academy department, supporting training for eye care professionals on the company’s product portfolio.

Described as a “talented Spectralis OCT operator,” Tomlinson joins the Heidelberg Engineering Academy as the clinical application specialist for the north of the UK.

Tomlinson trained at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and has six years of experience as an ophthalmic science practitioner.

On his appointment, Tomlinson commented: “I’m thrilled to have joined the Heidelberg Engineering Academy team. Having spent the last six years using the Spectralis clinically in one of the UK’s largest ophthalmic imaging departments, I look forward to my new role where I can highlight just how good Heidelberg Engineering products are.”

The Heidelberg Engineering Academy provides training, courses and continuing education for the company’s products. Earlier this year, the company launched a new platform to provide online Continuing Education and Training for optometrists and dispensing opticians.

Emily Malbon, head of UK marketing and education, welcomed Tomlinson to the department, and said: “We are excited to grow our Academy team and strengthen our position as leaders in clinical education. Zak’s experience and energy will help us deliver high quality, consistent education at every level from research to clinic, and High Street optometry.”
