Topcon and the Ophthalmic Imaging Association (OIA) have named medical photographer at NHS Lothian in Edinburgh, Mark Hope, the overall winner of its imaging competition.

Mr Hope achieved first place in the Anterior Segment and Ophthalmic Related categories (winning image pictured above) and receives £200 towards attending the OIA’s conference in November.

Senior ophthalmic photographer at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Angelos Rantis, took first place in the Fluorescein Angiography/Indocyanine Green Angiography and Artistic category, while ophthalmic photographer from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals, Thomas Carr, won the Posterior Segment and Optical Coherence Tomography category.

OIA honorary fellow and Topcon area sales manager for the North, Richard Ball, said: “Ophthalmic imaging is an art in itself and a huge amount of skill is required in capturing images well. The Topcon and OIA Imaging Competition showcases the talent within a niche industry, and what can be achieved with the technology of today.”
