Birmingham Optical has announced the launch of the Nidek ‘Versacam DS-20,’ a handheld retinal imaging camera that it describes as a “revolutionary piece of technology.”

The sleek design enables high quality fundus screening to be performed “almost anywhere” and the camera has been created to be user-friendly. The Versacam DS-20 has a built in auto focus, a five megapixel colour camera and the option of one-handed operation.

The combined features open up opportunities for domiciliary use and the camera can be accommodated in at any practice, according to Birmingham Optical.

The portable unit has intuitive user functionality, including single-click, easy image capture and up to three hours of continuous operation. The imaging camera can also be attached to a slit lamp.
