Menicon Limited will undertake a transition in leadership as Kevin J Mitchell steps down from his role as managing director, after 36 years with the contact lens business.

Gaynor Williamson, currently the commercial director of Menicon Limited, has been named as Mitchell’s successor.

Described as a “cornerstone” of Menicon Limited, Mitchell’s journey with the contact lens provider began in 1988 with David Thomas Contact Lenses, before the company was acquired by Menicon in 2009.

“Throughout his tenure, Kevin has demonstrated unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership, fostering growth and steering the company through pivotal transformations,” the company shared. “The company expresses its sincere appreciation for his longstanding service and wishes him well in his next chapter.”

The appointment of Williamson to the managing director role is a signifier of a “commitment to continued growth,” the company said, adding that it looked forward to a smooth transition.

Reflecting on the “strong leadership qualities and deep understanding of the eye care industry,” that Williamson has displayed in her role as commercial director, Menicon Limited shared that “with a focus on strategic development and driving innovation, Gaynor is poised to lead Menicon Limited towards continued success and market leadership.”
