OT  speaks to Johnson & Johnson Vision’s Dr Rachel Hiscox

Johnson & Johnson Vision exhibited at 100% Optical for the first time last month.

During the three-day show, representatives were on-hand to speak to practitioners about “the innovations that go into all of our products,” Dr Rachel Hiscox, professional education and development manager Johnson & Johnson Vision, explained when speaking to OT.

Over the last two years, the contact lens company has partnered with the AOP to provide education that supports locum optometrists.

Providing education for locums offers them the opportunity to meet together with likeminded practitioners and share support, Dr Hiscox explained.

Speaking about this mode of practice, Dr Hiscox highlighted: “Locums are now representing a large proportion of eye care professionals in the UK.”

“To get the chance to meet together to discuss the challenges that they might have working as locums is really important,” she added.

When asked what the key messages are that Johnson & Johnson Vision is highlighting with practitioners, Dr Hiscox responded: “Making sure that we are listening to our patients, listening to what they have to say and making sure that we are giving them a personalised recommendation so that they can remain comfortable in contact lenses from the start of the day to the end of the day if that’s what they want.”
