“From the day I qualified I have learnt every day,” optometrist and head of professional affairs for the UK and Ireland at Alcon, Jonathon Bench (pictured) told OT.
Speaking about the importance of learning throughout your career, Mr Bench explained that the knowledge that practitioners qualify with is contemporary of that moment. “There wouldn’t be research and academic endeavours if there wasn’t more to find out,” he added.
Mr Bench said that in order for practitioners to provide the best advice, support and guidance to patients, it is paramount that they continue learning.
Alcon delivers education through practice visits for clinicians and support staff, as well as hosting education days on topics such as presbyopia at its facilities in Surrey.
