Contact lens manufacturer Alcon has launched a new digital platform that aims to connect practitioners with contact lens wearers and optical businesses across the UK and Ireland.

Designed to aid patient retention, InContact allows practitioners can order online, arrange home delivery and utilise a range of subscription programmes.

Speaking about the platform, Alcon’s head of vision care franchise for EMEA, Jan Wagner, explained: “InContact has been developed for optical businesses to help build their practices, expand their online footprints and create long-term relationships with contact lens wearers through improved aftercare and customer management.”

To date more than 800 opticians across the UK and Ireland have asked to register for the service, Alcon confirmed, with more practices expected to sign up over the coming months.

As one of the first practices in the UK to utilise the new platform, Nishi Mani, director of Coulsdon Opticians in Surrey, commented: “Year on year I try to find new ways of driving new fits into my four practices, which I find a challenge as an independent. InContact gives me a new platform to drive new fits from an online perspective.”

To raise public awareness of the new platform and drive new contact lens wearers into practice, Alcon will launch a digital and television advertising campaign next month (May).
