Welcome to week seven of 2020 – and what a lot has been packed in already.
Those that were able to attend the show will have noticed OT’s takeover of the entrance tunnel, which told the story of the last six decades in optics in honour of the journal’s 60th anniversary. Optometrists Susan Bowers, Donald Cameron and Emma Spofforth spoke to us last month about their memories of practising in the 1970s, 80s and 90s – a great read.
The celebrations continued at the AOP Awards 2020, recognising excellence in optics. Interviewing the winners as they came off stage, the emotion having received an accolade voted for by the profession and the public was palpable. For the list of winners, and OT’s video from the night, click here.
And what does the rest of the year hold? One key goal for optometry is to continue to work with NHS England to establish a more effective relationship for the benefit of patients and practices. Look out for the March edition next weekend, where our experts argue it is time to address wasted opportunities.
OT is heading off to Vision Expo East next month to report on the emerging trends from the other side of the Atlantic. Get in touch if there is an optical brand you’d like us to interview.
