Session 2: First fit success with soft multifocal contact lenses

With the ever-expanding array of multifocal soft contact lenses on the market it can be difficult to know which one to reach for. This session will explore the important design and material properties of multifocal soft contact lenses that differentiate them from one another. This information together with a thorough examination of anterior eye state and consideration of the prescription for each patient, alongside proper use of the manufacturers' fit guide can lead to perfect first fit success.

Learning outcomes

  • Practitioners will explore the vital importance of fully understanding their patient’s visual and lifestyle needs in order to recommend the best contact lens to ensure long-term successful wear
  • Practitioners will consider just how important it is to stay on top of developments in contact lens material properties and design in order to meet the needs of their presbyopic patients on an ongoing basis.

Marie-Therese Hall

MarieTheresehallMarie-Therese spent the first 12 years of her career working for Boots Opticians in the North East of England. During this time, she held various roles within the company including several years in practice management and supervision of both pre-registration optometrists and student dispensing opticians.

She now works part time in practice between multiple and independent practices in the North East.

Marie-Therese joined Johnson & Johnson as a professional affairs consultant in 2017. Her special interests are communication, dry eye management and contact lenses.

Preete KumarPreete is a professional affairs consultant with the Vision team at Johnson & Johnson. Until recently, she worked as locum domiciliary optometrist in the Midlands area.

Formerly a resident optometrist and contact lens trainer for a national chain, she has also practised in a hospital clinic, acted as a clinic supervisor at City, University of London and has taken part in charity trips such as Vision Aid Overseas.
