Optometrist Zetun Arif discusses a day in the life of a domiciliary optometrist

On the road

Zetun Arif is the ophthalmic director of Manchester 2 and Liverpool 2 territories for Specsavers Healthcall. Her day can range from sight tests in the homes or nursing homes of people who have limited or no mobility, to performing sights tests in prisons, secure units and in schools for children with special needs – “it’s a very wide, varied role,” she says.

Reflecting on what she most enjoys about being a domiciliary optometrist, Ms Arif says: “No two days are the same, which is what makes this job really fantastic. You make a real difference to people's lives – that is what makes it so rewarding and makes you want to do it again and again.”
