Winner: Kristen (Kris) James Cottier

Cardiff University graduate Kris Cottier has been in the optical field for over 20 years. Currently working as a locum in the Bexleyheath area, Kris has undertaken over 50,000 sight tests and worked in practically every optical environment including refractive optometry, hospital, domiciliary and peer development. As one of the first practitioners to gain The Diploma in Therapeutics (Additional Supply), and later undertaking an MSc in Clinical Optometry via City University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Eye-care Governance via Cardiff University and local clinical and hospital eye service placements in diabetes, glaucoma and A&E, Kris is passionate about continual personal development. 

How it feels to be a winner

It’s a real privilege and honour to win this award. Locuming is a growing trend within the profession and it’s just brilliant to be the first one to win this award.
