We are delighted to be working with Marsha de Cordova MP to conduct a roundtable discussion with members who live or work in her constituency to better understand how primary eye care is providing an essential service to the community.

The roundtable will enable members working in Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth the opportunity to raise important issues facing the profession in daily practice and discuss what change is needed to improve patient care in the community.

Marsha de Cordova, who is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Eye Health and Vision Impairment, is committed to the creation of a national eye health strategy. In November 2022, she put forward a motion calling for a Bill to require the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to publish a strategy for England. While the Bill did not have a second reading due to the forthcoming Kings speech in Parliament, Ms de Cordova has an ambition to take it forward.

This roundtable event will support the robust evidence base informing the strategy – gathered from those working in the eye care sector.

If you live or work in the Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth constituency and would like to take part in this event, you can register your interest.

We aim to hold the event at a member practice on a Friday in October or November so that Ms de Cordova can find out more about the important work community optometrists do. If you would like to host the event please indicate this in the form.

Please share this event with anyone you know that lives or works in the constituency who would be interested in attending.
