We’re delighted to be supporting this year’s Westminster Eye Health Day on 19 October as part of the Eyes Have It coalition.

Westminster Eye Health Day aims to raise the profile of eye health in the UK and to campaign for more joined up care through a national eye care strategy in England.

The national coalition of six leading organisations, will join forces to host the event to galvanise fresh support for eye care in parliament.

Last year’s event was attended by over 50 MPs and drew political support for sector calls for a National Clinical Director for Eye Care – a post that has been filled by Ms Louisa Wickham.

Members can support the event by writing to your constituency MP to encourage them to attend.

For ease, a template letter for you to amend and sign is available. Your MP is much more likely to attend if they are asked by a local constituent.

You can find your local MP and how to contact them by entering your postcode on the Parliament website.

In the lead up to the event, a two-week advertising campaign which launched on 10 October, will feature in Westminster tube station and Old Street tube station, the closest station to Moorfields Eye Hospital.
