Mandatory vaccinations consultation
Share your views in our survey
The Government has launched a consultation on proposals for mandating COVID-19 and flu vaccinations for frontline health and social care workers in England.
In response, we’re surveying members in England to ask your views on the Government's proposal.
The current proposal covers health and care staff in England, who work for organisations that are regulated by the CQC. Among optometrists, it only covers those working in hospitals at this time, but the consultation includes a question about extending the requirement to other patient-facing healthcare workers, and therefore potentially those providing face-to-face eyecare in the community. Read our initial response.
The Government consultation was launched on Thursday 9 September and runs for six weeks. It follows a recent decision that requires all professionals entering care homes to have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 11 November, unless exempt.
We will submit our response to the Government consultation, based on feedback and survey responses from members and we encourage all members to take part.
