Public Health England (PHE) and the British and Irish Orthoptic Society have launched an e-learning module on vision screening in children.

PHE states that the aim of the resource is to assist child vision screeners in carrying out their roles.

The module will be used as part of initial training in new screeners.

It contains five units and an assessment. Topics include general information on child vision screening, vision development in children and what can go wrong, preparing for and undertaking the vision screening test as well as what happens after the test.

The module provides film and interactive elements, with a certificate provided to those who successfully complete the assessment.
