Moorfields Eye Hospital receives a £5.3m NIHR grant for clinical research
22 November 2016
Better patient care is the aim of a £5.3m grant awarded to Moorfields Eye Hospital’s Clinical Research Facility from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
The money will support five years of work at the research facility, starting from April 2017.
The Moorfields centre was established in 2012, and seeks to transform innovative ocular research into real-world treatments and diagnostic methods.
Moorfields research and development director, Professor Peng Tee Khaw, highlighted that: “This award recognises our world-leading excellence in the translation of ground-breaking experimental medicine research into sight-saving treatments.”
The grant follows a £19m fund given to the joint Moorfields Eye Hospital-University College London biomedical research centre earlier this year.
