Optegra officially opened its latest eye clinic in Brighton, Sussex last month (March).

Based in Sussex House on Crowhurst Road, the clinic opened its doors on 28 March, providing NHS cataract procedures in order to support hospitals to reduce waiting lists.

NHS director for Optegra, Richard Armitage, explained: “We are eager to continue supporting the NHS as ophthalmology is the second largest waiting list for treatment. Our new specialist clinic ensures that individual patients in the region can access cataract surgery in a timely fashion.”

The clinic was officially opened by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, councillor Lizzie Deane, who cut the ribbon. Speaking at the opening, Mayor Deane said: “We all rely on our vision, and having this clinic with specialists on site on our doorstep will help so many people regain their independence through improved vision and also reduce waiting lists.”

Established in 2007, Optegra currently operates 37 clinics across the UK, Czech Republic and Poland.
