The Local Optical Committee Support Unit’s (LOCSU) clinical director has been seconded to Primary Care Support England (PCSE).

Katrina Venerus will assist as a special adviser and subject matter expert on PCSE’s ophthalmic payments service line.

The former LOCSU managing director has worked on a PCSE stakeholder forum since the beginning of the contract with Capita for administrative support services in 2016.

LOCSU chief operating officer, Richard Whittington, welcomed the opportunity for Ms Venerus to provide direct expertise during PCSE’s operational improvement work and the forthcoming transformation of the ophthalmic payments service.

“It is clear that modernisation of the payments service is needed urgently to streamline claims and payments process for practices and this secondment fits with our commitment to supporting NHS England and PCSE to ensure that the transformation programme is a success for our sector,” he highlighted.
