specialist team within Primary Care Support England (PCSE) has been tasked with reconciling payments for General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) between January 2016 and March 2017.

According to a memo from the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU), the specialist PCSE workforce hopes to complete the reconciliation of GOS claims by the end of 2017.

“The outcome of each reconciliation case will be communicated to contractors on a per case basis in due course and arrangements to address any under or overpayments will be made by mutual agreement,” the memo stated.

Information from the GOS claims reconciliation exercise will be used to validate ophthalmic late payment claims where appropriate.

LOCSU also reports that NHS England have established a process to consider ophthalmic payments and National Performers List claims.

Optometrists who wish to submit an application relating to a delay in obtaining an NHS England Performers List number are encouraged to email details of the delay to [email protected] by 8 September, 2017.

LOCSU recommends that contractors who experienced a late payment for a GOS claim submitted up to 31 March, 2017 complete an Ophthalmic Payment Claim Form.

The claim form can also be used by contractors who wish to submit a request for reimbursement of other costs they have incurred, LOCSU notes.

Completed forms should be emailed to [email protected] by 8 September, 2017.

Any payment queries relating to GOS forms submitted after 31 March, 2017 should be emailed.
