AOP Council elections open for voting
Council positions in four geographical regions are open for member voting
28 March 2024
The AOP has opened voting for Council elections in four of its geographical regions across England.
Voting, which opens today and closes on 23 April, is taking place for seats in the East of England, North East England, South West England, and the West Midlands.
Members who are eligible to vote in these areas will have recieved (28 March) an email from the AOP’s election partner, Civica, which includes a unique invitation and instructions on how to vote.
Election results will be announced in May, with new council members officially welcomed in during their first Council meeting in June.
AOP chairman, Emma Spofforth, said: “Becoming an AOP Councillor is an incredibly rewarding role which offers the opportunity to use your own knowledge, and on the ground experience, to shape the AOP’s policy making and help drive progress within the optometry profession, while also further building your own skills, among peers.”
Highlighting the important role of Councillors, AOP chief executive, Adam Sampson, said: “Our Councillors are a vital part of our work to protect our members’ interests and build the AOP’s influence within and outside the sector, to secure a future of the profession that we’re proud off. If your constituency is being contested, now is the time to have your say on the future Councillor representing you.”
