The winners of the AOP Awards 2018 were revealed during a black-tie ceremony at London’s ExCeL on Sunday (28 January).

On being named Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year, Faye McDearmid, said: “I’ve worked really hard and tried to help a lot of people. What I do is about making people feel good, so for people to vote for me and make me feel good is really great.”

Winner of the Lecturer of the Year accolade, Patrick Richardson, added: “I’m particularly pleased to get the AOP Award because the AOP is the part of the profession that oversee us, and protect us and look after us. To get an award from the AOP is fantastic.”

More than 30,000 votes were cast across this year’s awards categories.
