How can prospective employees apply for a position at The Outside Clinic?

Candidates are welcome to call the recruitment team for a chat on 01793 648 607. They can also email their CVs through to [email protected] or get in touch via our website. Candidates can also connect with us through LinkedIn.

What is the internal process after an application is made?

On application, we call candidates to discuss the role further and try to find out exactly what they are looking for from their career. This is a good opportunity to ask questions about the role itself as well as the company.

What is the interview process?

We have created a taster day for optometrists to come and get a feel of what it’s like here at The Outside Clinic. During these days, candidates get a chance to see how they are supported by head office, and will go out with an experienced optometrist to test a patient. This is a great experience for them to see the testing environment, the equipment and the company car that is provided.

What makes a CV stand out?

For me personally, I prefer a CV to be kept to two pages, highlighting results and accomplishments in past positions and their personal life.

What are you looking for in a cover letter and why?

At The Outside Clinic, we are looking for people to be passionate about the industry that they work in. You should keep it simple, direct, clear and short.

How should a candidate best prepare for an interview?

Research the company if you haven’t done so already.

Make sure you know where you are attending the interview and know how long it will take you to get there. Candidates should aim to be 10 minutes early, in my opinion. Take along a copy of your CV for your own reference and your “brag book” if you have one.

What three interview tips would you give a candidate?

  1. Be yourself
  2. Ask lots of questions
  3. Remember that the interview is your chance to see if the company is right for you too.

What are your interview ‘pet peeves’?

Not calling if you are running late. But also being too negative about your previous roles is not great either.

Sum up your ideal candidate in three words…

Passionate, enthusiastic, confident.
