London optometrist wins global optometry award
PhD scholar, Priya Morjaria, receives award recognising leadership potential from the World Council of Optometry

A graduate of City, University of London and PhD scholar at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has received an international optometry award.
London international student and optometrist, Priya Morjaria, is the winner of the Paul Berman Young Leader Award, which was announced at the second World Congress of Optometry in Hyderabad, India, on 10 September.
The accolade recognises an optometrist who shows promising leadership potential in global optometry and has made an “outstanding contribution” to the World Council of Optometry’s (WCO) vision and mission.
WCO President, Dr Uduak Udom, congratulated Ms Morjaria on the award.
“Priya has achieved this with hard work, dedication and perseverance,” she emphasised.
Peek Vision co-founder, Dr Andrew Bastawrous, praised Ms Morjaria’s dedication to improving the lives of others and attention to detail.
“Her ability to build relationships and through them deliver world-class research and policies that can impact on the lives of many make Priya an outstanding candidate for this award,” he shared.
