SightCare to support independent practices with free skills conference

Online conference aims to equip independents with business and marketing skills needed during the pandemic

A new online business and networking conference is aiming to help independent practices navigate the marketing challenges that they might be facing in the context of COVID-19.

SightCare will be holding its 2021 Online Business & Networking Conference from Sunday 28 February to Monday 1 March.

The two-day event, themed Adapting to Change…. Celebrating the Independent Spirit, is aimed at supporting independent practice owners and their teams as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

It is free to attend, and open to everyone involved in the independent sector.

The programme will feature practitioners talking about their knowledge and experiences of running independent optical practices, covering key business areas that address some of the crucial decisions facing independents in the context of the pandemic.

Guest speakers include Steve Head, a business coach, author and trainer, and Philip Calvert, a marketing specialist. The speakers will review the lessons learned during 2020, and discuss the future of marketing for ECPs.

Delegates will have the opportunity to chat online with supporting supplier partners, and to join other delegates for an informal online social event on the Monday evening, which includes an optional gin tasting experience.

SightCare is a not-for-profit organisation, owned by its members, which supports independent opticians and optometrists with business, networking and retail support needs.

This the first online conference that it has held. John French, SightCare's chief executive, said: “March will be a critical period for planning for optical practice owners and their teams, and this online event will provide practical support, new ideas and inspiration for everyone working within an independent practice.”
