Kirk & Kirk launches consultancy business

The founders of eyewear company Kirk & Kirk have launched a consultancy business to support independent opticians.

Established by Jason and Karen Kirk, Kirk & Kirk Consult is designed to provide independent opticians with advice and support to help them stay ahead in a “fast-changing and competitive marketplace.”

The husband and wife team, who have more than 25 years of experience in optics, have offered this type of service in the UK and further afield for a number of years, but are now launching is officially it in the UK where they feel their experience can make a difference, they said.

Speaking to OT, Mr Kirk said: “It is no longer enough for an independent optician to be ‘a good optician’ or offer a professional service. We are working in a fiercely competitive environment so we need to get our product mix right to differentiate our stores from our competitors. Those competitors might be other independents, chains or even online.”

He continued: “We also need to communicate effectively through social media and not many opticians have been trained or are comfortable with that.”

The consultancy business will offer a range of services including product recommendations, store environment advice, communication and staff training.
