How many pairs of spectacles or sunglasses do you own?
Until today I had never counted them. At the moment, I have 78.What frame shapes, colours or styles do you usually go for?
Due to my style and personal preferences, I mostly choose frames with a butterfly shape. I prefer warm colours such as gold, Havana, green, turquoise, white, black, coral, and red. I like acetate, but I also opt for minimalist touches with metal frames or rimless glasses. Can you describe your favourite pair?
My favourite is a red frame with a cat’s-eye or butterfly shape. I find it super sophisticated, and its colour lifts my spirits.Carolina Lober
Who would you pick as your style icon when it comes to eyewear?
Without a doubt, Iris Apfel. Her style and pioneering spirit are a great source of inspiration for me.How long have you worn spectacles for? What prompted you to go for the sight test that led to the prescription?
I’ve been wearing glasses since I was two years old. My parents noticed an issue with one eye, which turned out to be strabismus, myopia, and astigmatism. What does vision and eye health mean to you?
It means everything. Many people aren’t aware of the importance of visual health. I’ve experienced the distress of not seeing well, and it’s horrible.I’ve experienced the distress of not seeing well, and it’s horrible
How important is eyewear to reflecting your personality?
I express myself with glasses. The choice depends on the image I want to project at any given moment: creative, approachable, distant, sophisticated, or confident. Or I will pick frames to elevate a look. What are your top three tips for selecting the right pair of frames?
- Ensure they harmonise with your eyebrows
- Choose colours that enhance and brighten you
- Make sure you feel comfortable in them.

Could you describe your background in eyewear styling?
I am an image consultant. Before working in the optical sector, I worked in fashion. I’ve applied my image consulting knowledge to glasses, observing the effects frames can have on one’s image. I’ve been working in the optical industry for 12 years now. What is one eyewear styling experience that has stayed with you?
I remember a consultation with a mother, her daughter, and son-in-law. The mother wanted rimless frames, but the daughter and son-in-law wanted to modernise her look. I showed them that, by choosing the right shape and colour, they could achieve a modern and current image with rimless frames. In the end, all three left with rimless frames.Where do you recommend that eye care professionals start in eyewear styling in your training for practices?
I recommend that, during frame consultations, they apply image consulting knowledge. Most people want, not only to see well, but to also look good. This will enrich an eye care professional’s advisory discourse and enhance the optical experience. If you had one key message for optical professionals about celebrating eyewear, what would you say?
I would encourage them to embrace more colour to inspire clients to do the same. In specialised eyewear image consulting sessions, I provide tools to give colour combination recommendations. How have you been involved with 100% Optical? What has your partnership with the event meant to you?
I participated last year and was delighted. It is a dynamic, innovative and fun fair. It’s an honour that the team want to include me. I recommend opticians do not miss 100% Optical; it’s an opportunity to discover new brands and professionals in the field.
