Marcolin has finalised the acquisition of the independent eyewear manufacturer, ic! Berlin, which becomes one of the company’s house brands.

The independent brand was established in Berlin in 1996 and designs, prototypes, manufactures and assembles its luxury sunglasses and frames. Through the acquisition, Marcolin takes full control of ic! Berlin.

In a post on social media, the ic! berlin team shared that the brand has seen a strong growth of more than 20% in 2023. The brand commented: “With Marcolin as the new shareholder ic! berlin will continue its success story as a unique design brand with its unmistakable style.”

Marcolin will integrate approximately 140 employees at the Berlin headquarters and manufacturing plant, and two subsidiaries in Japan and the US.

The acquisition forms part of Marcolin’s aims to enhance its expertise in metal manufacturing and broaden its luxury portfolio.

The company suggested the agreement also supports its ambition to strengthen its market positioning in areas such as Asia and Europe. Web Eyewear also becomes one of Marcolin’s house brands.
