Hoya has formed a new partnership to provide its customers with advice, guidance and clinical support.

From 1 November, members of Hoya’s partnership programme, Visionary Alliance, have access to a discounted rate to the online platform PocketEye.

The application enables eye care professionals to seek guidance and clinical or diagnostic support from ophthalmologists in the UK.

Optometrists can send images and videos, including OCT scans, visual fields, and lid photos, and live chat with the ophthalmologists.

Queries can be sent in less than three minutes, and are responded to within 30 minutes, the companies suggest.

The subscription service also includes regular CPD events and workshops for optometrists in primary care practices.

Martin Batho, managing director of Hoya Lens UK, said: “We believe working with PocketEye will really benefit our Visionary Alliance members. Having access to a second opinion or clinical and diagnostic advice within a few minutes offers reassurance that the best advice and treatment can always be given to all patients.”

OT interviewed ophthalmologist Dr Meera Radia, CEO of PocketEye, earlier this year to find out more about the app.
