The eyewear brand, Izipizi, has received B Corporation certification.

The non-profit network, B Corp, marks a standard of excellence for businesses to benefit people, communities, and the planet.

With this recognition, Izipizi becomes one of 6000 companies with the label, and one of only 300 French companies to be certified.

The brand has been investing in sustainable approaches over the past few years, completing its first comprehensive carbon audit in 2020.

Identifying the company’s primary source of emissions, Izipizi set itself the goal of halving the carbon footprint of its glasses and using biosourced materials for 30% of its production by 2023.

In mid 2021, Izipizi introduced a new material made from 45% castor oil, resulting in an equivalent reduction in fossil fuel use.

In a statement, Izipizi marked 2023 as “a turning point” in the brand’s history, explaining that B Corp certification process took months of “discussions, complete transparency and the validation of many, many criteria.”

The five pillars were assessed for the certification: governance, workers, environment, customers, and the community.

The brand shared: “Being welcomed into this sought-after and restricted circle is a reflection of how hard we work every day to ensure that our actions are beneficial to everyone around us.

“These are not mere words. Izipizi is fully committed to working towards a more responsible future,” the company added.
