Rodenstock UK highlighted its Biometric Intelligent Glasses (BIG) programme during 100% Optical last month.
The company’s managing, David Baker, explained that the tool, which aims to provide patients with a bespoke lens designed specifically for them, is driven by a DNI scanner that captures 7000 measurements, puts the results into a data set and uses them during the manufacturing of the lenses.
“We can use those measurements to make the product a better fit for the patient.” Mr Baker shared, adding: “It is a bespoke product. The more bespoke you make the product, the better it is.”
100% Optical 2021 will be held at ExCeL on 23–25 January.
