Global eyewear and watch brand Komono has launched the Neutro series, a capsule collection of sunglasses that have been designed with more then just fashion in mind.
As well as being stylish, the sunglasses are eco-friendly, featuring gradient bio-lenses and sustainable frames. The collection has four classic Komono styles named ‘Francis,’ ‘Vivien,’ ‘Harper’ and ‘Devon.’
The company partnered with Dutch science based company, DSM Engineering Plastics, to create the Neutro designs using EcopaXX technology; a product that is derived from the sustainable castor bean that has a reduced carbon foot print.
Explaining the ethos behind the technology, a spokesperson for the company said: “The new material was developed to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions commonly associated with human activity and industry production. It’s an innovation that can help us protect our planet for the next generation.”
The collection is available in two stylish colours, sand and black and It stands out because of its flexible material which increases durability and makes it impact resistant. Its ‘lightweight construction’ also ensures optimal comfort, according to the company.
Komono founder Anton Janssens told OT: “Komono thrives on innovation. We are constantly pushing boundaries, looking for new styles, new ways to develop better products in an ever-changing world. The Neutro Series is the result of this constant quest for innovation: qualitative, well-designed eyewear made from a carbon neutral material.”
