EssilorLuxottica at 100% Optical

The company demonstrated its practice support tool, and spoke to OT  about its summer collections

New frames, tech, and partnership benefits were key highlights from EssilorLuxottica at 100% Optical this year (23–25 April).

The company was exhibiting on a combined stand to showcase joint projects across frames, lenses and instruments.

This included the launch of a new rewards programme, complementing existing partnership programmes that had existed through Essilor and Luxottica separately.

The presentation of the new programme outlined “what it means to be an EssilorLuxottica partner,” said Damien Klevge, Luxottica head of independents for the UK and EIRE, as well as highlighting the benefits that the company has introduced to support independent practices.

The latest Spring Summer 2022 frames were on display at the trade show, with Ray-Ban a key focus.

Jagdeep Sundal, Ray-Ban account manager for the UK, explained that new variations are added to the iconic models, like the aviator, each season.

One variant for the latest season is a twist on the classic ‘3447’ model, Sundal shared: “It’s called ‘The New Round’ and we’ve put a lot more detail on the temples. The frame is a lot heavier because a lot of patients were saying they wanted a more premium feel.”

The aviator frame is an enduring style, but Sundal noted that as trends have changed, patients require different features.

“We’ve incorporated something called a Chromance lens into our sun frames. That’s not been done in an aviator before,” Sundal said. “What a Chromance lens does is enhances a lot of the colours like reds, blues, yellow.”

The company showcased one of its newest innovations, the Smart Shopper support tool.

Klevge explained that this “allows customers to have access to the entire portfolio of Luxottica.”

Instead of having “drawers full of stock which might not have the same rotation as top sellers,” the tool enables practices to “really focus on the best possible assortment – the ones with a very high rotation – and use the Smart Shopper to still be able to showcase the back catalogue,” Klevge said.

EssilorLuxottica has also gained access to Ray-Ban Remix and Oakley Customs to offer tailored frame designs.
