Alcon has opened applications to newly-qualified optometrists for its scholarship programme, which provides education through training courses.

The two-year programme is designed to help optometrists who have been registered for two to five years to enhance their clinical, professional and commercial skills.

Training courses cover five areas, each taking two days, and are held at Alcon’s Experience Academy in Surrey and at a facility in Germany.

Head of professional affairs at Alcon, Jonathon Bench, said: “Each year, we have had the chance to train thousands optometric colleagues, both clinical and non-clinical, in all aspects of contact lens use, dry eye and patient care and it’s great to know that Alcon has the ability to make such a significant difference within vision care.”

Applications should be submitted by email to Alcon’s Neil Harvey by 23 August. Successful applicants will be informed by 13 September, with the first course taking place on 24 November in Surrey.
