Menicon launches first daily silicone hydrogel contact lens

Miru 1Day UpSide is designed to deliver comfort as well as high amounts of oxygen

Menicon has launched its first daily disposable silicone hydrogel contact lens, Miru 1Day UpSide.

The lens includes the company’s Menisilk Air and NanoGloss Pro technologies, which are designed to balance the material and deliver high amounts of oxygen.

Managing director of Menicon, Kevin Mitchell, said: “This new generation lens is designed to deliver all the health benefits of a silicone hydrogel but with the comfort of a hydrogel lens.”

Menicon explained that it built a dedicated research and manufacturing facility in Japan where it developed Smart Touch packaging, which ensures the lens is always facing the right way up.

Mr Mitchell added: “From the moment a Miru 1Day UpSide lens is produced, until the wearer pinches it out of the Smart Touch packaging, the lens remains untouched by human hands. This lens delivers in all the key areas – health, vision, hygiene, comfort and convenience.”
