Waldo has released contact lenses that are designed to fight dry eye by replenishing tears and boosting comfort
09 January 2018
An online eye care start-up has released contact lenses that are packaged in a saline solution containing vitamins E, B6 and B12.
Waldo states that the contact lenses remove the hassle of taking supplementary vitamin eye drops.
Waldo in-house optician, Anita Mistry, highlighted that the lenses provide a hydrated feeling.
“Our Waldo vitamin lenses help dry and tired eyes feel refreshed on insertion,” she added.
The contact lenses will cost £32 for a one-month supply and can be delivered anywhere in the UK.
Waldo founder, Ashleigh Hinde, said: “While special contacts for dry eyes are available on the market, they are not supported by a solution containing the additive vitamins which relieves the strain on eyes. We wanted to make these lenses universally accessible at an affordable price point and we’re proud to be bringing such a unique product to the market.”

Sorry AOP. This is disgusting that you are promoting this.

We appreciate all feedback from our readers on the news that we report and take these comments on board. As a journal, Optometry Today does not endorse products such as these, but we look to inform the profession of what is available on the market. Many thanks, Emily (OT deputy editor).

This popped up on my Facebook feed which just looks like you are endorsing their adverts. As commented already I was disappointed to see that from the AOP. Ive seen them advertised before, but there doesn't appear to be any incentive to have a proper check up or supply through regulated channels. Rather than just an advert could we at least see some science - preferably backed with references about how the vitamin enriched solution improves the dry eye experience?

Disappointing you are promoting this company who has no respect for the Opticians Act, and who blatantly supply contact lenses without valid specifications. As a magazine from the AOP I expected better from my membership fee.
