Solutions for RGP contact lens care problems

David Thomas Contact Lenses (DTCL) has launched MeniCare Pure – the newest multipurpose solution which is manufactured by Menicon to promote healthy rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lens care. 

The product is the first solution formulated with natural ingredients such ε-polylysine as a disinfecting agent, instead of the usual polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), as well as vitamin C glucoside and hyaluronic acid. 

Additionally, a double filtration manufacturing method has been utilised to remove any undesired particles and to provide purity to the solution formulation.

The solution comes in a one-touch-cap bottle for better sterility and integrity, and to also make it easier to handle. 

To ensure better comfort and to prolong the life of RGP contact lenses, DTCL is recommending the use of Menicon Progent to remove proteins, in combination with MeniCare Pure Solution. 

Progent is a weekly protein remover, disinfectant and intensive cleaner that is compatible with all RGP contact lenses. It cleans and removes proteins from the surface of the contact lenses simply by soaking them in it for 30 minutes. 

According to DTCL, the efficacy of Menicon Progent lies in its strong, rapid action against all the organisms likely to contaminate contact lenses, including bacteria, moulds, yeasts, viruses, as well as ancanthamoeba trophozoites and cysts.
