Julian Davies Opticians has set a fundraising target of £1500 every quarter to benefit local charities, individuals and organisations

A Welsh optical group is aiming to raise up to £1500 for local charities, organisations and individuals every quarter for the foreseeable future.
Julian Davies Opticians has seven practices in south east Wales, serving communities in areas including Cardiff, Newport, Blackwood and Usk.
The group has been in operation since 1992, and is part of the Hakim Group.
Money raised each quarter will be used to benefit local communities in each of the independent group’s practice locations.
The fundraising target is a way of giving back to patients who have supported them in recent years, the group shared.
Chris Tannorella, managing director of Julian Davies Opticians, said: “We are truly committed to improving the quality of life within the communities that we serve. We have been so fortunate that these communities have been loyal and supported us and we want to give back in any way that we can.”
Groups that have already benefited from the initiative include The Rescue Hotel, part of the Cardiff Dogs Home, which was awarded £400, and Whitchurch Bowls Club.
Llandaff City Primary School was awarded £500, to be used towards developing a facility for children who are neurodiverse or have additional learning needs.
Individuals who have benefited from Julian Davies Opticians’ fundraising efforts include Alan McDermott and Maddie Rowlands, who ran the London Marathon for Orbis and Cure Parkinsons respectively.
Those who want to be considered as recipients of the money raised are invited to fill out an application form, which is available on the practice group’s website.
A selection of winners will be voted on by Julian Davies staff members at the end of each quarter of the year.
