The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is encouraging sign-ups for January’s Take on 250 virtual fundraising event.

The event asks participants to choose either an individual or group challenge that they can commit 250 minutes, 250 laps, or 250 hours to between 1 and 31 January.

The aim is to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with sight loss.

Past activities have included singing, baking, running, walking and dancing.

It is free to sign up, and the fundraising target is entirely up to the participant.

This year 50 charities from the sight loss sector are uniting to Take on 250, the RNIB said.

Chris Perrin, the charity’s interim challenge events senior manager, said: “We are so pleased to welcome back Take on 250. It’s great to see the number of charities uniting has almost doubled since last year.

“This virtual fundraiser is a great way for people from across the UK to unite and help break down the barriers blind and partially sighted people face. If you’re up for a challenge, please join us and Take on 250 this January 2023.”
