Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) has issued an urgent call for volunteers to support it in providing free sight tests and spectacles to homeless people across the UK.
The charity is seeking volunteer optometrists, dispensing opticians and team leaders. It is calling for volunteers at its centres in London (Mondays), Brighton (any weekday morning), Birmingham (Monday mornings) and Exeter (Mondays and Tuesdays).
Sharing insight into the volunteer team leader positions that it is seeking to fill, the charity explained that the roles require 10 hours of administrative volunteering a month.
Manager of VCHP volunteer operations, Georgia Hannen, said: “It is a great opportunity for someone who is well used to dealing with the administrative side of running a practice. It is a chance for someone who really wants to make a difference, and the team leaders can tailor volunteering to suit their hours.”
To find out more about volunteering, email Ms Hannen and visit the VCHP website.
