VAO welcomes new trustees
Eye care charity has expanded its board of trustees
14 November 2018
Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) has expanded its board of trustees with the appointment of five new members.
The expansion means that the eye care charity’s board has grown from seven to 12 members.
New members include Professor Hannah Faal, a retired ophthalmologist and founding partner of Vision2020; optometrist Ian Davies; independent consultant, Ronnie Graham; and post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, Stephen Thomson.
The new trustees join Professor Nora Colton, who has been appointed chair of VAO, succeeding David Scott-Ralphs, who stepped down after six years in the role.
Chief executive officer of VAO, Nicola Chevis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome each of our new trustees to our board, especially at this exciting time as we look to expand our work. In the coming year we are focusing on scaling up our existing programmes and establishing our child eye health programmes and the experience of our new trustees will be crucial in helping to shape these developments. We are excited to work with them to advance the organisation in the coming years, bringing eye care to everyone, everywhere.”
