A group of 22 UK charities last week announced that their supporters could donate using Apple Pay.

Among this group, which is the first collection of charities to support Apple Pay for donations in the UK, is Sightsavers and the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Allowing donations to be made using Apple Pay is designed to make it easier and more secure when making a charity donation.

Commenting on being in the first cohort of UK charities to use the technology, Sightsavers’ director of global individual giving and marketing, Becki Jupp, said: “Mobile technology is changing the way Sightsavers’ supporters can help improve lives. We are therefore very excited to be one of the first charities to offer Apple Pay in the UK.

"We believe that such advances in technology and the way people can donate means we can offer greater choice for our supporters – enabling them to give in a way that best suits them and is quick and effortless.”
