Charity seeks Christmas volunteers

Vision Care For Homeless People is seeking an opticians service organiser who can support its Crisis at Christmas service

VCHP Crisis at Christmas volunteer campaign

A charity that provides free sight tests and spectacles to homeless people is seeking a volunteer to help organise its Crisis at Christmas opticians service.

Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) is seeking to appoint a second opticians service organiser to a role that involves co-project managing a week-long mobile opticians clinic across London.

The person appointed to the role will work with VCHP to plan, resource, organise and manage the charity’s Crisis at Christmas service, which runs from 23–30 December.

The charity is also seeking optometrist and dispensing optician volunteers to perform sight tests and dispense spectacles during the service.

Last year VCHP ran 29 mobile clinics across the week, as well as a static clinic for four of the seven days. A total of 86 volunteers performed 363 sight tests.

For more information, email VCHP general manager, David Brown. To sign up as a volunteer, visit the Crisis website.
