Charity releases video to educate health care workers about its support for veterans
15 September 2016
Blind Veterans UK has launched a new video that aims to increase the referrals that it receives of sight-impaired veterans who would benefit from the charity’s support.
Released in line with National Eye Health Week (NEHW) which begins on Monday (19–25 September), the video has been developed specifically with ophthalmologists, sight loss advisors and other eye health professionals in mind.
The short video, filmed at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool, features eye clinic liaison officer Hilary Butter (pictured) and focuses on a new referral pathway that has been developed at the hospital.
The referral process directly ensures that patients with a military background are made aware of, and receive support from, Blind Veterans UK with ease.
Blind Veterans UK was established 100 years ago and offers support and training to anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, or done National Service, who is now living with sight loss.
The video forms part of a wider social media and direct marketing campaign established by the charity specifically targeting eye health professionals.
