Charity launches countdown to Christmas campaign

Blind Veterans UK has launched a social media campaign designed to raise awareness of the charity and highlight the support it offers blind and visually impaired ex-Service men and women.

The #12daysofveterans countdown will run during the 12 days leading up to Christmas Day, and will see the charity share festive stories via its Twitter and Facebook pages from veterans who are supported by the charity.

Blind Veterans UK currently supports 4000 ex-Service personal with severe sight loss, providing practical and emotional support through its UK centres based in Brighton and Llandudno. Over the last few years it has been raising awareness of its services through its No One Alone campaign, which seeks to reach out to the tens of thousands of ex-Service men and women who it estimates are dealing with vision loss.

Manager of the No One Alone campaign, Lara King, said: “Adjusting to life with sight loss can be difficult for the whole family, but we want to make sure that no veteran has to battle blindness alone. Our #12daysofveterans campaign shows that, with Blind Veterans UK, there is life beyond sight loss and lots to look forward to this Christmas.”
