Peer review is a great way to share ideas and reflect on different approaches. You will be presented with a series of cases to discuss in small groups with your peers.
Delegates will benefit from:
- Hearing different approaches to managing clinical situations from their peers
- Recognising the importance of reflection on current and future practice.
We restrict numbers at these events to ensure the best experience. To allow everyone the opportunity to attend please only book to attend one peer review. Multiple bookings will be removed.
CPD
- There are three interactive CPD points approved for this peer review
- To be eligible for the CPD points you need to attend for the duration of the session and be able to participate in interactive polls
- You will need to enable audio and video functionality throughout the discussion in your breakout room
- This event does not cover the requirement for specialty (AS/SP/IP) optometrists or contact lens opticians
- By attending this event you will be fulfilling the GOC’s peer review requirement for general optometrists.

Learning outcomes
Optometrists and dispensing opticians will:
- Be able to interpret clinical results (s.7)
- Be able recognise causes of a watery eye (s.7)
- Compare their communication skills to those of their peers, when faced with an ethical scenario (s.1).

Karen Gennard

Karen has been a practising community optometrist for over 20 years, mainly working for independent practices in Gloucestershire and holds professional certificates in medical retina and glaucoma. As well as her practice role, she is an advocate and supporter of Vision Care for Homeless People and is also an AOP Councillor for Southwest England.
Simon Raw
Simon has worked for the Outside Clinic for the past 17 years and was previously with Boots Opticians. He is a full-time domiciliary optometrist seeing mainly elderly housebound patients. Simon is also CPD lead for the company, and a guest lecturer on domiciliary care at 13 universities. He is treasurer and former chair of NEOS, a peer review author and facilitator, and an AOP mentor.
