Online discussion workshop: Aftercare in myopia management - progression and stabilisation

When:

Time:

Interactive CPD points: 3

This session is delivered in partnership with CooperVision.

The evening will begin with a short update from the AOP outlining the support we offer to our members in the myopia management space. This will be followed by a discussion workshop led by CooperVision.

As practitioners are seeing patients further into their myopia management journey, questions are being asked about how to manage some of the findings in these 'aftercare visits' as some patients, understandably, continue to progress despite being managed as well as those who appear to be stabilising and stop progressing under management. During this discussion workshop, three cases will aim to explore some examples which may appear in any practice and overcome some of the concerns which may be raised by parents and carers as to whether the intervention is working or still necessary.

Delegates will explore the conversations around these cases to understand the benefits and/or risks of remaining or changing myopia management strategy at a normal follow up appointment and use up to date evidence-based technology tools to support their knowledge and communication.

  • Creating the correct levels of expectation for future progression while under management. Understand and document what continued progression and apparent stabilisation means when patients are wearing management interventions to be able to recommend continuation or changing of strategy
