Legal advice and a quick result for a locum chasing unpaid invoices
Locum optometrist member, Hamza’s story
What happened
Hamza (not his real name) carried out locum work for one of the large optical groups on several occasions. However, a number of his invoices were not paid, and the company was refusing to do so. When Hamza contacted us, he had been chasing the payments to no avail for over a year and was owed around £1650.
How we helped
We asked Hamza to let us review the relevant documentation (including a locum contract and the invoices) and then sent him our template letter for locums which also contains some general advice for locums. We then reviewed the response that he had drafted based on the template and advised on amendments he could make.
The outcome
About a month after we advised him, Hamza came back to us to inform us that he had had a very positive outcome; his employer had paid him in full within a week of receiving the letter. He told us it was the ‘perfect result’.
